That is not the present society. We have a corrupt monetary system that makes it necessary to take on massive debts in order to have a basic life, with insufficient monetary expansion such that households now spend almost 1/3 of their income on interest versus half that 15 years ago. Living standards for the middle class are rapidly declining and their absolute numbers are shrinking.

We also have the nature of technology, which has rendered anyone with an IQ of less than 100 obsolete for all but the most basic servile tasks. And then we have dysgenic policies that have resulted in an explosion in the population of the very same people who serve no economic purpose. And in the US, we import them by the millions.

What this means is that in order to get ahead, you must in nearly all cases work significantly harder than you did in the past. A 40-hour work week is a luxury for those who live off of economic rent or the truly exceptional.
