At first, I thought your name said Alyssa MILANO. But, your name is actually really close!

I've only had one interview on Skype, and it was for a position to teach english in Korea. And I've phone interviews as well. I had read somewhere that what you wear effects how you respond to the interview. During my first phone interview to teach in Japan, I wore pajamas and paced a lot. Didn't make it.

During my Korean one, I wore a casual business outfit and sat down - and I got it. So, to me, what you're wearing and what you're doing physically are really important. Also, watching my tone to make sure I speak in a way that's very happy and enthusiastic since they can't see your face (my interview was the phone part, not the webcam part).

I'm glad you mentioned this. I think more webcam interview should be the norm since, to me, it's basically the same, except you save money from traveling, lodging, etc. Actually, I prefer Skype and phone interviews to in-person ones!

Thanks, Tony - you may be right about international use. But I've definitely heard of this cropping up more and more locally in the U.S.! It's a great option.

Alyssa this is a good article, although from my experience with career coaching clients in the UK probably a bit ahead of its time. Skype is probably more fully used for international jobs. There are some great tips about colour and looking at the camera. I can use all these when using skype for coaching - thanks
