You really want to understand who they are – what their headaches are, what keeps them thinking about work when they get home, what would help them to move their business forward.

Maybe some coach-type questions like ‘When you’ve appointed this position, where are you hoping this person will take the business? If you could wave a wand, what would be the exact person you would like to hire for this post?
