Agree with the previous comment that we all do what we need to do for survival, but it's important to keep in mind that it's possible to have something more than "survival" if you're willing to take the jump. It's not easy, I know, but don't forget something better is a possibility when you're ready to go after it!

I had the same problems at times but some are just felt when there's lack of motivation. Making some assessment on yourself will definitely make some clarifications. Try remembering how your first day was, how excited you are but if it doesn't work, I would totally recommend what this blog suggests. Find another job that would make you happy. :)

Here's what motivates most people to get out of bed and go to work at jobs they hate:
"It took me 2 years to find work again and get off scrounging from friends and parents. I've got a pregnant wife and a kid under 3 years old who are depending on me to earn enough to house, feed and clothe them. I'll be damned if I ever go back to unemployment, food stamps, section 8 housing Medicaid and handouts, if I can do anything to avoid it. It's NOT about my comfort, but my family's survival, and I'll endure any discomfort to ensure my family's financial survival."

It's always good to try to find the "silver lining", even in the worst of jobs, but life is too short to put up with work that doesn't draw upon your skills, strengths, and passions. Rather than put your energy into making a bad situation good, it's best to move on. In another post I recommended a book everyone should read and put it into the context of their careers. It's called "The Dip" by Seth Godin. It will change your perspective and give you the courage to move on to better work in a better career.
