Maltster at Anheuser-Busch

Monitoring the malting process may not sound super interesting… unless you’re helping create the beer you learned to love in college, Bud Light.

Unfortunately, having consumed this beer doesn’t make you qualified to help brew it. For this job, you need a bachelor’s in science, agricultural science or engineering, plus work experience that includes handling grain and a basic understanding of malting. (And you have to be 21, of course!) We all know “work experience” can include internships, so if you want to land a job like this — or any job that requires special knowledge — get out there and find an employer who’s willing to teach you in exchange for your help.

In this role, you’ll not only help produce high-quality malt in the breweries, you’ll also inspect the malt houses, develop budgets for production supplies, supervise malt operators and identify opportunities for cost reduction and improved efficiency in the malt plant.

The position is based in Idaho’s Idaho Falls, and the annual salary’s listed as $80,000-100,000.
