Great article. I use LinkedIn a good bit, but not sure how much exposure my profile is getting. Gotta use it regardless though. A friend of mine just forwarded me a link to a website called 7jobs.com which appears to be similar but a bit more streamlined. Has anyone else here seen or used this site? Thanks!

Fantastic article, really excellent insight into the social media landscape. Instead of my normal social media work I have I have been enjoying Madbid a lot more. Incase you haven't heard of it, it's a penny auction website that offers various different websites for discounted prices. It's one of those things that you probably have to try to appreciate but they have a variety of prizes such as iPads, iPhones, iPods, Brand New Cars, and much more. You basically have to bid on items, each bid increases the price by a penny (hence the name penny auction) and the price is reset. If the clock reaches zero you are then the winner. Madbid is one of the most well known penny auction websites. If you want to try a penny auction website then Madbid will be the place to start.

Excellent article- clear and concise. The use of social media in recruiting is here to stay- there's no doubt about it. However, knowing which platform to use, in addition to using it correctly and with the best results, is no easy feat. In a 2 part article I wrote recently entitled: "Building Sales Through Social Media" (http://www.turningpointsearch.net/resources/articles/) I discussed these very issues. First, it's important to understand why social media is here to stay- why it works. This will help gain "buy in" and the commitment to investing time and resources to this area. Second, determining which platform best suits your company's needs is also important. You need to find out where your potential clients "hang out". You'll probably find a good portion of them are on LinkedIn. Once you determine the best "channel" for your business you can invest the time and resources to find exactly who you're looking for. I have garnered amazing results for my small business using these very steps.

Whitney and Ashley,
loved the article, thanks for tips and I will make sure to send them along!

Your 2nd point was a great one--it's crucial to build a strategy before you begin using the available resources for recruiting via social media. Otherwise, how are you supposed to measure your progress and understand how many people you've actually reached with your Brand's message.
And don't worry, there are easy tools out there that measure your social media presence and calculate your ROI-- try Facebook Insights, it's free, easy, and incredibly effective. Here's a helpful blog if you're interested in learning more: http://bit.ly/oUsaae
