I had the pleasure of meeting Adam Moffat at a blogwell conference a few months ago in Chicago. Adam was giving a presentation about Molson’s role in the community, and how they have used social media to aid their community initiative.
When Adam took the stage there was a sense of confusion in the audience, not because of what he was wearing, or what the slide in the background portrayed, but because Adam was drinking a beer… How cool is that? A guy gets up to give one of the last presentations of the day and he is drinking.
He immediately got everyone’s attention, including mine. Adam invited everyone to grab a Molson out of the coolers he provided and he began his presentation.
Adam focused on the Molson in the Community blog. The blog began in 2007 and is a way for Molson to share the work that they do in thousands of communities across Canada. They share stories, highlight organizations they work with, and introduce some of the staff at Molson to give the reader a deeper look into the organization.
The blog has a great balance of text and images. Almost every post has a picture and is short and to the point, making it an easy read and a constant pick me up. The most recent post I read was titled, “Molson Funds a Champion Campaign”, and it talked about Molson’s involvement in the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.
Post’s like this are what show that Molson is a company that really gets it, and their blog is a great portrayal of things they are doing everyday to make the world a better place and to make a great beer!
